Common questions

How do I play? Each level is a picture made of dots joined by lines. Put your finger on a dot and drag along the lines to draw the whole picture in one continuous stroke, covering every line exactly once. Lines you have drawn turn solid and thick; you can't go over a solid line again. When every line is solid, the drawing inks in and "Drawn!" appears. Stuck? Tap Hint.

How do I undo? Drag back over the line you just drew to undo it, one step at a time. This works on double lines too. You can also tap Undo (unlimited) or Restart. If you lift your finger, your stroke stays where it is, so you can keep going from the ringed dot.

Where should I start? On early levels the possible start dots are marked. From level 21 they aren't: if any dots have an odd number of lines, there are exactly two, and you must start on one of them.

What are double lines? From level 11, some lines are drawn as two parallel strokes. A double line must be traced twice. Because dragging straight back over the line you just drew undoes it, cross a double line once, then come back over it later by another route. No level needs you to turn around on a double line straight away.

What do the arrows mean? From level 31, one-way lines have a small arrow. They can only be drawn in the arrow's direction.

What are bridges? From level 46, a bridge is a line that passes over another line without joining it. Drawing across a bridge doesn't connect to the line underneath.

Is every puzzle solvable? Yes. Every level, Daily Drawing and Free Draw picture is checked by a solver so it can be drawn in one stroke.

How do hints work? If your stroke can still be finished, Hint makes the next line glow. If it can't, Hint says "Undo to here", rewinds to the last point that could still be finished, and shows the next correct line. Hints are always correct, always free, and never need an ad.

How do stars work? 3 stars for finishing with no hints and no restarts, 2 stars with 1 hint or restart, and 1 star for any finish. Undo doesn't cost stars. There's no timer.

What are Daily Drawing and Free Draw? A new Daily Drawing starts at midnight your time. Finish it on back-to-back days to build your streak. Free Draw gives endless random drawings in Small, Medium or Large, with no stars and no streak.

How do I turn the sound off? Open Settings and switch Sound off. Sound never plays before your first touch.

Does Penpath work offline? Yes. Everything is saved on your device, and you can play with no internet connection.

Are there ads? The Penpath game itself has no ads or purchases on the web; ads on the Two Tone Arcade page around it are covered by the arcade's own Privacy Policy. In the app, the only ads are the optional "Watch ad to unlock" buttons for pen styles and papers. They only play when you tap one, and hints never need an ad. There are no in-app purchases.

How do I unlock pen styles and papers? In the app, reach the play goal shown on a locked style (for example, finish level 30), or tap "Watch ad to unlock". It unlocks when the ad finishes and stays unlocked. Watching is always optional.

I got a new phone. Will my progress move? Progress, stars, streak and unlocked styles are saved only on your device, so they don't transfer.

How do I change ad choices? In the app, open Settings, then Ad choices, to reopen the consent form. On iPhone and iPad you can also change tracking permission in your device's Settings; on Android you can reset your advertising ID in device settings.

How do I delete my data? We don't keep any personal data or accounts. Your game data lives only on your device, so uninstalling the app (or clearing the site's data in your browser) deletes it. For any other data request, including ad data, email contractorlyservices@gmail.com and we will help.
